Air Force...they wouldn't let him leave if he wanted to...well, not for 3 more years anyway. As much of a pain as it sometimes is, I'm thankful for the security.

My husband works for the railroad they slowed down in the beginning of the year and cut their "extra lists" and hubby squeaked by seventh from the bottom. However, with the dollar being so low overseas has been ordering bunches of coal and now he is working like gangbusters.

I have lived long enough to know that it is unwise to think any job is totally secure. Everyone should strive to remain marketable and flexible in case of need. Of course, the need isn't always what you think it would be. Divorce, disability, and death are all too often financial disasters.

Dh is a self-employed executive recruiter, and everything is 100% commission-based. It's stable in the sense he can't get fired, but unstable as far as having a predictable income. But, this is the nature of the business, no matter the economy. One gets used to it, but I could never call it stable.

My DH's job is very secure, he works in the oilfield industry, oil is used for many, many things so as long as oil is needed he will work steadily.

Right now it isn't very stable at all. Very stressful indeed. We at least have a backup plan which I am very thankful about. In the meantime we're just waiting -- which is very difficult. I'll be glad when it is all put behind us.

Three months ago, roughly, I posted on here that his job was very stable. Things sometimes change very quickly.

DH's job is pretty stable. He does weights and balance on planes and is the only one at his hub who does this. But we all know things can change pretty fast.

We always thought my dhs job was very stable and he did have senority but not so. The only good that came was a great severence package that held us through until he was employed again. From that expierence I would say no ones job is 100% secure.

Blessedly, DH's company is as stable as any company is right now. He is a tool and die maker and his company is swamped at the moment.
