PLEASE tell me I am not the only one. Like moving is not stressfull enough with all going on with gas prices and groceries going ski HIGH I am nervous.
We need a bigger house so that worries me even more with the unknown bills of upkeeping a bigger house. We can't put off moving we have stalled long enough, 3 kids in a 2 bedroom house and the youngest just turned 5yrs old.

Oh gosh, I can understand, totally!
I have been there, when the kids were young and am stressed over our home plans this year again. We have been in a tiny apartment for a while as my kids are grown now. We just committed to building and having a mortgage again, so I know that stress again.
My husband is a little more cavalier than I am about it. He sat me down and said that we had planned well and are as prepared as possible. Some things this year are going to be haphazard and I have to just "wing it" for awhile. It kind of helped me to relax, giving me permission to go with the flow.
Good luck!

We are. We close on a house May 29th. Our first one. I am really looking forward to it. We got a good deal, are putting 15% down on a 15 year mortgage. The best time to buy is a bad market. But, we didn't have another house to sell first, so I could see how that would make some other people nervous.

We are planning on a move but have to sell our house first. That's the part that has me worried as it's not the best of times to be trying to sell a house.

If I Were Worried About Finances , I Wouldn't Move Period.
I Would Much rather stress Over too many in a Too small house , than Lots of Room along with lots Of bills.
We Do Hope to Put our House up for sale next yr. -And Hope it sells...
and Move to our 3rd and final House until we retire.

It is interesting that you say your final house. I have heard many people say that they love their house and this is the one they will retire in. Except for those of my parents generation, it has never panned out for anyone. Things change so quickly these days. Jobs, health, marriages, kids, economy. Can any of us really see what our lives will be like in 10 or 15 or 20 years?
When we started our housing decision last year, there were so many options because hubby can pretty much work from home mostly. Too many options. New house, old house, in town, suburbia, small city, country. I found it overwhelming. Add to that, since we are past childrearing, will this house be our last house? That would mean convenient for an aging or infirm elder!
It helped when we decided that for the first time in our lives we could actually go for what we had always wanted... a house to our own specs in the country. It will most likely NOT be our final home and I am fine with that. The world may be a really different place in that future and I can be flexible with our needs. But never say never, right?

We have our house listed now. We found a property that we fell in love with and are crossing our fingers for a sale soon. As far as cost, the house itself is only a little bit bigger, but much larger lot it is over 1 acre) and the property taxes are $1000 less a year so financially a move is the RIGHT decision for us.
I hate the stress of all of this so this IS our final move. I am not doing it again. It is costing us the same to less; so again, financially it makes more sense. Unfortunately we have a few houses for sale in this neighborhood and it is not boding well for any of us.

In my area (SoCal), this is the perfect time to buy a house. The market is glutted with them and you can get a decent home for much less.
Unfortunately, if you're selling, it's a baaaaad time.
I so wish DH and I were much younger and just starting out. We'd have definitely bought a different home in a different area.
It's funny that a PP talked about "final" homes and that some people buy a home expecting it to be their last and then move. We're quite the opposite. We bought our "starter" home when I was 25 and DH was 28. Just married and no kids. We both were working, but didn't have a down payment, so we bought a cheaper home in my neighborhood and didn't plan on staying long.
Well, 20 years later, we're STILL here!! And since I am no longer working and we now have 4 kids aged 3-16, we're not going anywhere anytime soon! Plus, our mortgage is pretty decent for SoCal and DH is getting older. He wants to look forward to being able to retire at some point...
Good luck to those of you who are in the midst of moving!

I want to move, but it is only from one apartment to another. We have major issues with our current apartment. We actually looked at several houses here to purchase. Houses here are still selling and haven't been strongly affected by the housing slump. We decided we don't want to purchase in this area, hopefully we won't be here but for a couple of years. On the other hand, my DH is a retail manager(but for the #1 co.), so we don't want to commit ourselves to anything right now.

Our house is sold and we are looking for a new one. We just can't stay here anymore or the new owner wouldn't be happy.
I figure it is never the perfect time to move but the economy is not making it any easier right now. Please show me someone not concerned about Finances and could they adopt me?
I was just looking for others in the same boat.
