I had always known that the government could seize safety deposit box contents, but I always envisioned some apocalyptic police state scenario. I had no idea that it was happening now!

I don't have one. I have some good safes for my valuables.

Many years ago I had a safety deposit box in CA. One day I went to the bank to get something out of it and found that the bank building was closed! The bank had been bought by another company and they moved all the safety deposit boxes to a new building. I had to hunt down the new company and the new box location. As soon as I could, I went down and cleaned out the box.

We have a safety deposit box now but we're thinking of closing it. We simply don't need it anymore. I'd rather have a fire proof safe at home.

Wow! Never knew something like that was going on. We don't have a safety deposit box but a fireproof safe at home. We feel much safer that way and always have the documents where we can get them anytime we need them.

Oh my!

I'm in CA and I had my safe deposit box at a Bank of America. I didn't have an account there, but I was allowed to keep the box since I had opened it when the bank was a Security Pacific Bank.

I just let my stuff sit in there for years until I closed it a couple of years ago. I'm SO glad I did!!!

Now, I'm really happy I have my firesafe boxes.

I do feel so bad for the women who had hers seized and her jewelry auctioned off.
