My mil has pretty much run out of money. She is retired, but it looks like she'll need to get a job. She's been very stubborn about getting a job. I help her out with food and stuff, but don't like giving her cash because I feel it's her job to take care of herself. She's in her early 60's and fairly good health and can still work. I really don't mind helping family but when they can help themselves, it's their job.

The exception to this would be if she was unable to work or in her late 70's or 80's. Then I'd feel we should help out more.

No, I don't have to worry about my parents at all. They have never been in debt, have a house they paid off 30 years ago that is over $500k in today's (ridiculously overpriced) market here, are smart with their money. My DH's parents are divorced, but both do well for themselves, so I very highly doubt we would ever have to worry about them either. We are fortunate to have been raised by parents who taught us (by example) to be sensible with money.

My inlaws yes. My dad I worry about him sometimes b/c he spends spends spends and he just went back to work after like 15+ years out on disablitity, I guess he went through my step-mother's life insurance so had to get a job, I don't know I don't ask but I know he uses credit cards alot so I worry. He's only 49.
My mom is only 47, I think she's ok. At least I know she saves for retirement and has investments. She's not well off but comfortable. She's in a stable marriage so hopefully it will continue.

We'll see in the future though!

I don't have to worry about my parents. They handled their money wisely during their working years and have a lot put back for their retirement.

My IL's are deceased, so that's a moot point. However, if they were still alive, I think we'd be having to help them out because they were not smart with their money when they were younger.

Nope, my parents have pensions and investments out the wazoo. My mil is very frugal and she is set. She is always giving us things and money (no, we do not ask for it, she just likes to give it to us)

Not really my mother is a widow now. She will be turning 60 yrs old this June but my mother is a tightwad she's still working full time and she hardly go out and buys stuff. What I'm worried about is her safety living by herself scares me to death but I know she will be alright. She got lots of money save up.

Fortunately both my parents and my in laws are very well off financially. They do not have any needs that cannot be met. In fact they have lots of "extra" which they generously share with their families.

My parents are very well off so luckily I don't worry about them. My MIL and her husband aren't well-off but they are comfortable and smart with their money. Plus MIL's mom was well off and will leave her enough for her retirement.

My FIL and his wife, however, make a decent salary combined but spend SO much. I think he has maybe $4000 towards retirement and he is in his 50s.

My parents are both deceased and my in-laws are doing fine.

I am worried about an Uncle and Aunt. They are in their 70s...he has no children and he has cancer right now. He's doing treatment but i'm not sure if he'll make it.
She has two children but they are pretty worthless.

They have a ton of debt and are thinking of going bankrupt.

I sent them some money this past week just to help with the doctor bills.

I don't know what will happen if my Uncle dies. My Aunt could lose her home, she has no job and really only a little bit of social security. They live in NY and i'm in Ca.

I don't know what will happen in the future to her.
