This has been a hot topic with my family. I swear all of them use up money “they think is going to come.” If it were me, I fear that I MIGHT not come.

What is your opinion?

Nope it's the old saying don't count your chickens before they're hatched. I can "dream and plan" what I might do, but it is NEVER set in stone

I think that way too! People are going crazy because their stimulus checks were supposed to come and havent come yet. Im glad i dont need it because the stress of it is way reduced. Now i just want to make sure I get what im supposed to.

That may be partly because of all the ads on TV now, prompting people to bring in their stimulus check and buy whatever they're selling. Some even offer credit until the check comes. Everybody is after your money!

I know what you mean. I just don't think about my stimulus check. After all it's money we weren't getting before, so it's "bonus" type money in my opinion. So I'll just keep doing my normal spending and when it shows up it'll be a bonus!! Can't imagine people spending it then throwing a fit when the check hasn't arrived on time.

I have family members like this too. One in particular turned in hail damage on his home and property and was awarded a sizable amount for it. He spent that money on some dogs, a new t.v., and some furniture before the check was ever sent. Now, the insurance company is stalling and he's freaking out because he doesn't have the $$$$ to pay!!!

I thought my stimulus check was going to be direct deposited into my account today. I got an email yesterday from Turbo Tax saying it will probably be two months from now...I was depending on it. I have two water bills-(I live on the cusp of two cities so my water bills are divided by the two), and so I waited to pay them because I thought this money would be here today. I also thought I was going to get a digital camera which I could use to start my own online business selling my folk art paintings. So, I was shocked to get this email the day before saying I won't get it until July.

Worst off is my sister whose idiot husband spent their $1,000 rent money and so she was counting on this money to pay on her rent and other bills. She was going to get the 1,200. So now, she's screwed. I think telling us the day before we expected the money was a horrible thing to do. Most people I know really need their stimulus checks because their struggling and then to have this happen-ugh!!!

I learned a long time ago not to count on that check until it was in my hand. My then boyfriend, now husband, checked with the IRS about his tax refund and it should have been in the mail the next day. He wanted to buy a bike and couldn't wait the 24 hours until that check came. So I bought it on my checking account ... long story short, the IRS did send the check but my boyfriend hadn't changed his mailing address! Yep, I bounced that check.

I never count on money until I see it in my checking account. I work for a company who frequently screws up paychecks and I never know if mine is going to be right. I understand about people needing their stimulus checks. I've been off work for several weeks due to a neck injury. I'm hoping it will help get us through until I recover. We did end up getting ours Tues, however, I had a back up plan just in case it was delayed. You just never know.
