Unless it were more than $20 million, it wouldn't be worth it for me to even bother. The sad reality is with a baby like Tommy, we could exceed $2 million in just a year's time with open heart surgery and follow ups. There are many instances of parents meeting their $2 million insurance cap in just a couple of years and being left with no means to pay for their child's treatment. With him facing years of intervention, imagine how fast it would all go.
As much as the dream of winning the lottery sounds so fabulous with new houses and cars, I'm going to stay poor a little while longer. I'd hate to think I traded in fortunes for my child's life.

There are more than 40 different types of congenital heart defects. Little is known about the cause of most of them. There is no known prevention or cure for any of them.
