I'm not giving my dd a credit card either. She has had a debit card for the last two years and she puts some of the money she earns in the summer in the account as her spending money through the year. I'm wanting to her to keep doing that in college so she just uses the debit, and not credit.

Our biggest STUPID mistake was selling a rental house back in 1996 when the market was bad here.

DH bought it when we were separated. We got back together and had it as a rental. We were paying out more for mortgage than what we were getting in rent (not much more though ~ we could have made it ok financially), so we sold the house AT A LOSS!!!

Being in SoCal, we just needed to ride it out. We were just too short-sighted. That house is worth WAAAAY more. More than our current home. I'm still crying over that one!!!! There's no way we would ever be able to own 2 homes in our housing market here anymore.

Second stupid mistake was buying an over-priced $55k motorhome that we never got our use out of. We also had that as a rental, but ended up selling it AT A LOSS!!!

Two BIG financial mistakes!!!

Not reigning in the spending on the credit cards. I don't necessarily believe that having a credit card is bad; there have been times where I was glad to have that option.
I stupidly allowed DH to "guilt" me into trading off my old, paid-off car to buy him a newer vehicle. It looked nice, but it had one problem after the other. I wanted to wait a while before purchasing a vehicle and either use our car payment money to pay off the credit cards and save some for a down-payment on the next vehicle. To add insult to injury, he didn't really need a vehicle (his employer provides one for work/work-related purposes).
