Alright, last year my husband got a loan from our bank. And he ended up forgetting to have my name put on there too. I know we can go in to make principal payments on it but my question is... can I actually do that since my name isn't on it?

My husband says I can, and that as long as the bank is being paid and getting money from someone, they don't care who it is.

Of course you can make payments to the loan. They are happy to accept your money, too.

you can make a payment, but probably won't get a receipt or any info on the account (around here, they would mail it to the person's name that is on the loan.)

Your money is as good as his. I haven't heard of a bank refusing payment before.

You just couldn't get any information on it.

Not exactly the same situation...it took me a couple years for me to add my husband to my credit cards. Anyway, when I was in labor with my son he tried to call and pay and he got such a run around because he wasn't on the account. He thought the same as your husband...they're not going to refuse money...but they sure tried.

You or anyone else for that matter can make all the payments to the loan that you want. I work in banking with loans and we will accept funds from anyone wanting to make a payment we just won't discuss the loan with anyone but the borrower unless we receive written authorization to do so.
