Sabrina, I am new here as well.
I could have written your exact post...in debt and not sure where to start. So, I began researching and decided to check out MommySavers and see what everyone else is doing. And, one thing I have heard over and over again is that I have to get serious and stop guessing what my debt is or where my money goes.
I love shopping and taking vacations. I spend way to much of "my extra money" on stuff I don't even need. It's my drug as well...this is a source of stress and conflict in my marriage. Therefore, DH and I rarely talk about it.
Most of our actual debt is due to my DH's 3 year old business. His business has required a lot of expensive purchases...which is a source of stress and conflict for us, so we rarely talk about it. I guess there is no more avoiding it.
Step 1 for me: Pen, bills, DH and me...we have a date to sit down and figure out where we stand.
After that, we will begin thinking about Step 2: Making a plan.
Good luck to you!
