when the kids get older to help towards retirment? Right now DH does not make enough for me to stay at home, but I am concerned that if I can in the future it will hurt our retirment.

I am currently a SAHM and I do plan to return to work once we are done having children and they are in school. I’m considering grad school but we’ll see where we are and such. I also might only go back part time, but again, that’s a bridge we’ll cross when we come to it. I’m planning to return for a variety of reasons, retirement is one, but also because I want to.

Hubby and I are older parents. When DD graduates college we will qualify for retirement -

I'll probably have to work some while DD is in college.

I am planning on working more as my children get older in part to help build our nest egg. We are saving a considerable amount of DH's salary for retirement, but I do not think it will be enough even assuming we get Social Security.

Right now I have a sort of part time job (working only 40 hours per week) For an attorney that is part time for the most part. What I need to do is work on getting an associate on another paralegal to work for me so I work smarter not harder!!!!!!!

No formal plans to go back to work while the kids are growing up. I might consider something during the school day when they get older but I want to be around for them. After they are grown I will probably work just long enough to get my social security benefits.

My husband has actually told me I don't have to return to work after the kids are grown if I don't want to. He like having me home managing the home, paying the bills and taking care of pretty much everything for him.

I homeschool our children so I don't plan to return to a full time working situation for another 18 years. However we are young parents so I will be in my mid 40s when my baby goes off to college so I would have some time to work and save until retirement. I do alot of charity work though so if we have the money I would probably volunteer or work in the non-profit sector. But that is a lot way away so we will see how our financial situation is looking, I might have to get a full time job, we'll see!

No "formal" plans but when the kids get older I'd like to find something to help out so DH can retire

I am a school counselor who is making the transition to a SAHM. Our son is due in September. I am planning on staying home until our son and any other children we have start school. Then they will go to school wherever I work and we will always be on the same schedule. I am flexible though and understand that things may change. If I do have to go back to work earlier then being employed in a school is the next best thing because I am off on the holidays, summers, home by 4, etc plus my husband has a really flexible schedule and could be home with the kids some.

Yes, we plan for me to return to work at some point. I'll probably start very part-time and then work up to full-time status. My money will go towards college funds and retirement.
