Hi everyone, I have a few months left in my company before I retire …. and I would like to know about the options that I can consider for my retirement plan. I am taking about some real good investments so that I get my future secured (want it secured for the kids too). I have a few options that I can look up to like REI, mutual funds and stocks…..but need a bit of advice from you to make a better decision.

The only stock I own now is BRK-B. It is Warren Buffett's Birkshire Hathaway. I do still have a Vanguard Gold fund but most of my money has been sheltered in PMs and foreign currency. As a rule it is best to get out of dollar dominated investments due to the fact that our currency is being debased. Only invest money that you are willing to keep invested for at least 10 years. Crude looks good right now since as of Friday it was around $122 bar. With the bailout of Fannie and Freddie I would fear the bond market at this time. If you are just looking at very short term then I would go with treasuries but not for longterm because the action taken by the FRB and our government is going to cause treasury yields to plummet.Just my opinion but I am a contrarian investor and was buying gold when others considered it foolish. I am not risk adverse so if you are then you might want to seek advise from someone else.

Apart form the ones that you have stated there are many more options…..but as far as I am concerned I would consider a wise investment in RE as that is one of the secured options that I know. You just need to hook up a good RE consultant or a real estate investor that can guide you in your investments. That can be good for the future prospects too and will definitely give you a more secure investment than any other.
