We do make over 100K more than when we first got married and our standard of living hasn't changed much. Here are the main differences: Now we can afford to eat out and buy organic when we want, we have they money to save alot, maxing out 401K and saving for college which we couldn't afford back when we were in the Army, we are a 2 car family now, have a house instead of rent or base housing, can pay for the kids activities and don't have to live on a credit card. I am still frugal, still shop sales but now if we want something we can buy it-but I still wait for a sale!

With another extra 50K, I would invest more and spend more also.

We would probably eat out a bit more, and I wouldn't worry quite so much about saving money on gas. And we would get me a new car.

I asked my husband and he says pay to have his hair cut.

I think my general habits such as buying store-brand would stay the same. We are ok financially, so most of that $$ would go into savings.

I would go to more movies, concerts, and plays, and subscribe to the newspaper again (all things we enjoy but gave up for budget reasons) and get ourselves that 2nd car. Being a one car family with two school age kids and us both working is starting to wear thin.

Our credit cards would finally be paid off and gone forever!
And we would by a little bigger house so at least the kids could all have their own rooms!
And we would save more!

I would get the car debt paid off and save a bit more for retirement.

If the housing market was still drastically low, as it is here currently, I would look into purchasing another property as an investment.

I don't think our daily life would change. think I am pretty frugal at heart, and I would continue to do everything I am currently doing to save money. I think we would use the extra money to:
1. TRAVEL!!! My husband especially misses this...
1. Increase contributions to college funds
2. increase our retirement saving
3. increase charitable giving

It is amazing but I think the more you earn the more you spend.

Funny cause I was Just thinking this Morning How Nice it would Be To Have Our Bills of 1998- with our 2008 Salary.

We also Make About 4 times as much as then , But We now have 4 kids instead Of 2. Our Mortgage is about 3 times as Much....

Dh's Salary will Keep going Up for the next 5 yrs ,
And I Now I am learning That The only Way to Live Better is To Live Below Your Means.

So If We make an extra 50 Grand , The only Differences would Be , make Saving money More of a Priority, Obviously it would Be alot easier to Have a Bigger Direct deposit to Savings Right off the top. I would also Stress Less about Saving Money At the Grocery store. Well I Don't worry too much about that now, But , I Would Like to eat Filet Mignons Once a Month and Buy more healthy and Organic foods, without even Comparing Prices.
I also think I Would Be getting My Nails done again, buy more clothes for ME! and Hire a Sitter Once a week for a few hours.

If we made that much more a year. I would pay off our house in 2 years. Use the next 2 years after that to pre pay for our daughters' college. Then we would invest most after that and buy our dream home.

I would have someone clean my house once a week, maybe buy a camper and take lots of 3 day weekend mini vacations
