I just borrowed it from the library again to give myself a pep talk. I love what he has to say and think he is easy to follow - well as easy as possible when someone tells you not to do something LOL. I think this is a good starting point and he gives you lots of good ideas and motivation.

Yes I've read it, but it was awhile back. I did some of his suggestions with my own tweaks.

I recommend it to anyone with debt, it's really just common sense but the way he writes gets you in the mood to ready knock it out! I also recommend you re-read it anytime you fall off the wagon and start spending again! It's just a great motivator!

Reading it now and we are on baby step 2. Our own tweeks include taking a weekend getaway (paying cash) while still on baby step 2. He also states to empty out all savings not a retirement acct to pay down debt. Kind of balking at this. Any suggestions? Savings is for home downpayment.

I am reading it now, and finding his book very informative and helpful. We began a week ago so we are on step 1, but I'm exploring all my options to lowering our monthly expenses.

Yes yes yes! I actually bought it on disk (no time to read, it puts me to sleep) and I listened to it in chunks. I was also able to listen to it with my DH in the car and we would pause it and discuss several of his points. We LOVED it. I do think its time for another listen though! I even went online to his total money makeover site to try to track things that way, but, I couldn't access it from work and thats where i do most of my computer stuff...so...i stopped paying for it. Great concepts! Excellent points! And it just drives me nuts to listen to what other people are doing especially with Dave Ramsey in the back of my mind! hahha

I've read it, but wasn't that impressed. I like other people better. His stuff was nothing new, and just plain common sense. It didn't really apply to our family so didn't get much out of it. Mostly read it out of curisity.

I read it and loved it. Yes, its all common sense, but for me it gave me hope that it would be possible to get out of the hole we dug for ourselves. I love the success stories peppered throughout the book. Very motivational. My DH even read it too (that's huge!) and now listens to his radio show every day on the way home from work. Finally we have a concrete plan for my finances and the confidence that we can get there.

I don't follow his plan to the letter...I am doing highest interest rate first regardless of the amount for my snowball. I have enough focus to not need the "quick wins."
