Has anyone seen this story? It's pretty amazing. Their spending decreased 24% from the previous month. I so want to do this.

That was a good article. I'm looking at not using my credit cards as much and paying for most things in cash. It really does make you more aware of where your money is going and is an item worth it.

I saw this in a video form. It really is interesting. I have to have a card to pay for gas at Sam's. But I would really like to try this. Maybe if enough people are interested we can do it as a challenge on here with the support of others. I would be in!

We don't even have a credit card. But I know that I get a little overboard even with the debit card. I have toyed with the idea for awhile of doing something like this. It sounds like a great idea.

What a novel idea! It is amazing that using cash gets an article.

They don't think they need that credit card until they get a really nice streak of unexpected expenses. Hopefully they won't.

I think it is a great idea---but I get so scared when I walk around with more then 40 dollars in my purse. I swear I will lose it or someone will steal it. I guess I would have to get over that, but I have no idea if I could.

I am the same way. I rarely have cash in my wallet. And I love being able to pay at the pump. But I think I could get over my fears for a one month experiment.

What a great story...but really can't you do the same if you have a debit card? We are trying not to use our CCs right now and pay them off so they stay at home, tucked safely away. BUT my debit card...I use it and immediately write down what I spent b/c it comes from the checking automatically. To me it is the same concept, just more convenient at the gas station

I think a debit card is better than credit card because you do have to worry about the balance, but you still spend less with cash. We have tried going to cash and resort back to the debit card if we run out (which we need to stop), but we did keep our gas credit card. This is money we HAVE to spend, and there's no way we can save money on it or not use it so we've okayed this card in our house.

I really don't mind carrying cash around. Usually we take it out and leave most of it at home except $20 for DH & $20 for me. If we know we're going somewhere we might need more, (like the grocery store) we take extra. We LOVE carrying cash, but are not in the habit of getting enough yet. There's only 1 ATM in our town and it's 10 minutes away so we have to remember to get it when we're down there.

Did you notice, though, in the video, they saved 24% or something and they said it equaled $1800!!! WOW, I saw another video like this not too long ago and saved something like $600 a WEEK just in extras. I with I had that much over spending I could save!
