I think that's outrageous. Unless it's a new club starting out and they need to buy chess boards I can't even begin to imagine why it would cost that much. Most school clubs are really cheap. I would think even if they needed chess boards they could ask the parents to buy them instead of paying $100!!! Are you sure that wasn't a typo and supposed to be $10??? $10 sounds more reasonable to me.

That is crazy!! Your daughter sounds like mine!!

My daughter, who is almost 9, made a comment the other day about how lucky she was that I let her do things that were very expensive. (Soccer, piano, etc..) I was proud of her for recognizing it and being thankful.

No it is not a typo

and yes I was glad she said this cause now I realise she is understanding things cost money. I did tell her gymnastics costs a lot but since she loves it soo much we will figure it out. (tho she will need to make choices that or other~ she picks gymnastics)

My Daughter is in kindergarten this year, and lots of her friends have lunchboxes in all sorts of colors and characters, and she has made it know from the very start that she wanted one too. But- it's just not in the cards for us right now, we qualify for reduced lunch at her school, so we pay only .40 a meal, $2.00 a week to feed her healthy lunches, and it helps our budget right now a lot. I went to curiculum night and they had all made a sentence with a picture to go with it, "I see..." most of the kids i couldn't even figure out what it was! But my daughters says "I see a lunch box" and it is definatly a picture of a purple lunch box, and she surrounded it with dollar signs!! I tried not to let her know it was an issue of money that she couldn't have something so simple, just that she buys lunches from school- why? because thats the way we are doing it right now, but somehow she still caught on. I felt really bad though.
