I like getting them, as it is a treat...but I don't often give them. I love to bargain shop, so I get great deals for way cheap. I give things that would be above the gift card amount that I could purchase. To me, both of us win...they get a nicer gift, and I don't spend as much money!

Love to get them & Love to give them!!! I am the type of person who just hates to buy something for someone when I am unsure about it... I like to be practical with gifts... I don't want to 'waste' money on a gift ~ like to give what they will use

I never buy for a rest. unless I know for a fact that they go to that rest. - ie my sil - I buy them a gift card for dinner but I also include a 'night of babysitting' coupon with it - then they will use it for sure.

LOVE them...both getting and giving...IMO it is a win win...I can get what I want without spending my own money if I am the recipient and if I am the giver, then the recipient doesn't get something they can't use or don't really want. And when I give, I not only put the amount on the gift card holder , I alos put it on the back of the card

I LOVE getting the cards but don't love giving them so much. I feel like I can get nicer gifts for less money when I buy a gift instead of giving a gift card. But I do give them with other gifts on occasion.

I would much rather receive a gift card than a useless gift I will never use.
We give gift cards to extended family at Christmas but we give the Visa or American Express cards that can be used anywhere instead of store cards.

I love gift cards, but we've moved to an area with no Target, JCPenny, Macy's, ANY malls, KMart, etc. within an hour of us, so it's hard to spend anything that's not from WalMart or HyVee!! But I still love them.

I give them as gifts for many occasions to people outside of my family. Weddings (ESP. those w/o gift registries, or affordable gifts on their registries), kids' bdays who don't live close enough to attend the party, etc. A gift card to WMart is just a lot easier than trying to guess what toy the kid doesn't have, what jewelry the sister will wear, what towel color the new couple prefers in their bathroom, etc. They're easy to mail, too, and I feel better about mailing them than cash.

I spend all the gift cards I get, with little exception. Depending on how tight the month is going, they're either a welcomed help with the budget or fun money I can spend on something I've been eyeing.

I'd rather receive an actual gift...

I'm not a fan of gift cards - I don't like to get them, and I don't like to give them. They are rather ubiquitous these days...so yes, I have given them under duress. LOL

I actually have a $250 Coach gift card that I have yet to use because I just am not interested in Coach products. They just don't appeal to me. I was thinking I would use the card to buy someone else a gift but nobody I know likes Coach either! LOL! I keep going into the store, and I just never find anything I want.

I also had a bunch for Olive Garden...not sure why I kept receiving them. We never eat there - just have absolutely no desire, even for a free meal. LOL I finally found someone that ate there and gave them all away.

You could sell it on ebay or Craiglist for $200.

I love getting them, because then I don't feel guilty about buying something just for me. I got one last week from MIL for a bookstore, which would be my favorite type of gift card.
