For the record i'm not being mean to Calimari, it's only a joke and i know she will get a laugh out of it. Only trying to lighten the mood here.
(sorry for getting off topic too). Don't want anyone getting pissed at me.

I agree with MaDolan, and thank you for interjecting your expertise. All I have heard and read and know says it is the Republicans in the Senate that are in bed with Banking and Big business & are always anxious to remove rules or deregulate to clear the path for the greedy pracices that got us in this mess and now we are being told it is Governments responsibility to bail out their reckless and greedy aftermath while you and I will not live long enough to pay for the Recovery plan. Sorry if this is long winded, I reas=d all the posts thus far and spurred me to write in.
Isn't the real question who will be best to lead us out of this mess and personally I trust Obama and Biden rather than a
Bush clone that thought our economy was strong until somewone snapped him awake and he finally saw Riome was burning and it was no time to fiddle...

Very funny.

Don't worry Aliadam - I won't let them blame you. Clearly the fault lies with Warren G. Harding administration, if you really want to get to the root of it all.

(Apologies to any Harding fans or supporters! )

Wants to blast Toby Keith for some song lyrics and say he's ignorant and making Americans look bad but she can sing a song about premeditated murder (Goodbye Earl) and tell concert goers she's embarrassed to be from Texas because of President Bush. Well, i don't care if she likes Bush or not, that is her perogative but don't blast someone else for saying something that wasn't even close to being as negative as her statements.
I still think she's a great singer and still listen to her music though. Just needs to think before she speaks sometimes.
Toby Keith WAS ignorant. He bought into the idea that 9 11 and Iraq were connected. They weren't.

You trust "Bankruptcy Bill" Biden? If you don't think BOTH parties are complicit you clearly aren't paying attention. Who got more money from Fannie and Freddie, who we just bailed out? I'll give you a hint it wasn't the GOP candidate. It's all well and good to pretend one party was responsible, that said when you still have a mess 4 years hence.

Personally, McCain and Palin get my vote and I'm a liberal, the Democrats are playing this like it is some sort of game instead of people's lives. They wrtote George Bush a permission slip for everything that has occured in the last two years. EVERYTHING. Pelosi doesn't even pretend she has some sort of constitutional responsibility for her 6 figure income. At least with McCain in office I can limit the damage of a Democratic Congress and vice versa.

Toby Keith may have sounded ignorant but I have yet to see another musician support the troops like Toby Keith has. He will ALWAYS have my respect for that.

Wait, don't stop the thread yet. I haven't weighed in.

It is everyone's fault - not ours but everyone in the government no matter what their political party. Even the Libertarians are to blame because they haven't managed to get big and powerful enough yet.

Why?

Because what is the government doing being in the mortgage business anyway? Why is there a HUD, Freddie Mac or Fannie Mae to begin with?!?!? And where in the US Constitution does it say it is okay for the government to bail-out private businesses with taxpayer money? (Don't give me the 'promote the general welfare' bit.)

Well I'll chat with you about it Cookie!!! (But then you probably knew that huh? )

I agree with you. I'm very much a libertarian at heart. I think there is WAY too much government involvement in everything, yet the American public just seems to keep clamoring for more. You're right too about the constitution. Somehow people keep talking about all the things they're entitled to when really you're not entitled to all that free 'crap'.

I really do wish the libertarian party could somehow get a foothold. I don't ever vote libertarian because I think it's wasting my vote, although I AM aware that's part of the problem for why they can't get the foothold. So I end up voting Republican just because it seems the closest to my views.

Guess it's not such a discussion after all when I just basically agree with you!!
