I was not too worried until last week when DH's company unexpectedly let 12 people go and announced they would not be renewing any contractor's agreements. They just had one of their most profitable quarters too but said their capital is tied up in the market and their clients are being absorbed (mergers)/ falling on hard times so they were being proactive to stay healthy.

ITA agree that NO job is 100% secure these days regardless of industry.

We are not worried about my DH's job. As long as the human body continues to have kidney's - he has a job. DH is in the medical field - Dialysis, unfortunatly he has patients in 4 states. Keeps him away up to 18 hours a day.

What Job! HA! OK that was mean...but he works from home so no.
My job, now that I'm worried about. We've had cuts here twice this year and it seems like they always happen in January and right after the new fiscal in July.

I do worry about my husband's job. In the past 9 years the company he works for has been bought and sold about 5 or 6 times. Sometimes there is a rumor of shutting down completely.

However, I am not worried about my job. I am a nurse and originally planned to work only 12 to 20 hours per week. I made my 40 hours in 3 days. Had one day off and made 10 hours last night. They have already asked me to work tonight and possible tomorrow night. I am already on the schedule for this coming Saturday and Sunday. I need a break!

I have been on and off worried about my job but not too much.. that was until the Northwest/Delta merger. I work indirectly for Northwest and with the merger, we don't know what is going to happen or how long my company can/will survive. As for DH's, he is secure, at least I hope. He works in media and just reorganized 6 offices from Michigan and Ohio into one being run out of Southfield. As he is in a form of management I would hope that he is secure. Time will tell. At this point, I make more than him but he provides the benefits...

I have no worries about my Dh's job. He is one of the top engineers for the company he works for and is well known by higher ups in Japan. Worse case if they shut down his group they would probably ship us to Phoenix, California or Japan. His type of engineering specialty is also hard to find so it would not be hard for him to find something new.

We are worried. Overtime has been cut at his work and two plants have been put on hold and there are talks of a four day week. Contract workers have been sent home - and now they have to do all that work too. All projects have been put on hold - which has us very concerned - as they have just started paying for his studies for him to become a technician - so we hope that wont be put on hold as well for next year.

He works for ArcelorMittal ( Steel works) so now that demand is at a low - the company suffers.
