I don't mind at all going places by myself, just wondering if I will get bored and not use the pass as much. Your post reminded me that I took her to Disneyland all the time by myself when she was just a few months old. That never got boring. I guess I'll go for it.

As for socializing instead of watching her at a water park - no worries there. She won't let go of me in the water and I'd definitely be holding her the whole time.

I do take DS places by myself but I do like for someone else to go along because it means that he will have someone to play with while we're out. I'm more likely to take him to a place where I know that there will be other kids there for him to play with than not. Like McDonalds playland, I can always count on kids being there rather than the play area at the mall because that is hit or miss for us.

So I guess for me it has to do with only having one child.... I want him to be able to socialize with other kids.

About half the time we meet up with friends and the other half we go by ourselves. It is fun for ds when we meet friends because he has a buddy to play with.

However, sometimes I prefer to go alone because then I don't have to deal with someone else's rules (or lack of) and expectations of their child or of where we are. (for example, we have friends that like to meet us at the zoo, but their kids want to hang out at the carousel, train and playground the whole time and we like to focus on the animals, so while it's fun to go with them, it can be frustrating)

When DS was a toddler I almost always took him by myself - would would go to the zoo, Sea World and other places. I also belonged to a mommy and me group and it helped to find new parks and things to do. I don't think it would keep me from getting a membership - sort of depends on price though. Around here the water parks that cost money are for older kids. We go to the local splashground and it is just a couple bucks each time - same with the local pool (membership costs so much more than just going a few times so not worth it for us). It is more fun with another adult but not always necessary - some places I would take a book with me and read while he played - not at a water place though. Sorry your friend changed her mind.

I always take the kids to do things by myself. If I didnt than we would never get to do anything. I cant really think of places that I wouldnt take them by myself.

We decided to go ahead and buy the passes. I got a little bored, but I think it's because we had over an hour to kill in the kiddie splash pool before the waterslides opened, so we'll go later next time.

The worst part of going alone is I didn't have anyone to put sunscreen on my back.

I have been a single mom from day one and I always took my child with me to places. We went to parks, mountains, beaches, and drives across the country. I did wait until he was at least 12 to fly to Australia.... yes just the 2 of us. We had a blast and was great bonding time. I am going to miss him when he leaves for the military next year after graduation. At least we made the most of our time so far.
