I'm ordering mine. Well actually I'm ordering my birth certificate today. It burnt up in a house fire when I was a kid and I've never replaced it which means I've never gotten my passport and right now I cannot even get into Canada. As I live about 30 miles from Canada, you can imagine what a royal pain that is.

Yep, I even renewed recently when I realized it had my maiden name on it. Hope to use it again soon!

Yes, all 5 of us have our passports as we love travel and do it quite often. DH had to even get extra pages added to his passport as he travels quite a bit.

I've never been anywhere special to get one.

I feel like there was a less expensive option for folks that didn't need to travel beyond Canada...like a glorified ID card? Do they still offer that? I could be totally behind the times, because I just haven't had to keep up on it.

Idaho doesn't offer it or something odd like that and we will be traveling a bit further in the near future that will require a passport. Washington State evidently has something like you are referring to.

Yes, my DH and I just got them this summer, as we went to Canada. We got the Passport Cards though - cheaper and we know we won't be flying out of the country in the near future.
