I use to play tennis but that is something you can't play come winter. I walk and bike and today DH suggested I join the adult soccer league in our community this winter. I struggle with this -- it would have me playing everyone in the town including the teenage / early 20-something boys. There is no female only adult league. I don't know if I'm up to it.

What do you do?

I workout (walk and run), but don't do anything competitively. It's just never been my "thing".

The only competitive sport I have played, ever, was when I was on the Cosmo's soccer team when I was in 2nd grade. Oh, my cheerleading squads and dance teams competed.

I have been wanting to take tennis lessons. (You can play pretty much year round here.) Here, you really have to be a member of a tennis club to have any opportunity to play. Our neighborhood has courts, but we don't have an official club. The most reasonably priced club I have found is $85/mo. It's kind of a catch 22...you have to join to get a good pro, but I don't want to join unless I know I like it. KWIM? My MIL is a competitive player and has given me 2 rackets. They are both just collecting dust.

I walk or ride my bike.

We used to have a neighborhood kickball game with the families on the block.

I play soccer. We have an adult league here though and have 15 teams in our womens division. We also have co-ed leagues. If I weren't my team rep for my team I might actually have played co-ed instead. Of course DH doesn't like co-ed nearly as much as his mens team so that sucks too.

We also have an indoor soccer place here too. They have both co-ed and womens that I could play on. I did play co-ed indoor until I was a few months pregnant with my youngest and then I quit to be pregnant and just haven't gotten back into it yet.

If it were me I'd probably try it. It's only a season commitment. 10 games in our seasons. If it's TOO horrible you could quit at anytime. Sucks for the team, but they'd survive. You may find it's not as bad as you think. You may find it's worse, but hey, then you know!

I played soccer in HS and on a community team until I was 19. I haven't played since.

I think playing non-professional sports as an adult is mostly for DINKs (Double Income No Kids). Most of the people I worked with without kids played some sport, golf or were in a league of some sort (fantasy or real).

We do family activities that involve everyone like boating, swimming, water and snow skiing, hiking and biking.

I also run and strength train
