Hi all...my daughter is enrolled in ballet/tumble for $54 a month...she only enjoys the tumble part......she stands around for the ballet part.....sometimes interacts, but really only enjoys the tumble. We are paid up through November....Would you drop out? Switch to gymnastics?

Anyone have any ideas? She already takes swimming and loves it every Friday with her preschool. I work full time and this is our only extra curricular kind of activity.....

She is 4 by the way in December......

thanks.

From what you've stated, I'd change her to gymnastics. If that's the part she likes, why bother with the rest of it. It's not like she's 'quitting' at that age, so I wouldn't worry

I would switch to the gymnastics too. Will the gym let you switch over without any fees? I know ours will let you switch classes midway through. Otherwise, I would wait until November. At that age, it is just a guessing game as to what they will like.

If they'll let her switch, do it. If they won't, then let her quit ballet anyway. If she's just standing around, your money's as wasted as it would be if she weren't there. And I don't think a kid should be forced to continue an EC activity they don't enjoy.

She's young, gymnastics just seems to be way more enjoyable for a lot of kids that age instead of the structure and pace that ballet or most dance classes bring. They can jump around more haha. I would just switch her to gymnastics. As was mentioned, if she doesn't enjoy it and isn't participating, you're already not getting your money's worth from the class. Go with something she will enjoy more. In 6 months it could be something totally different, but at this age they're not making a commitment and then quitting it, they just don't want to do what they don't enjoy doing.

I have learned, the hard way , if she doesn't like something, it most likely will not grow on her. I'd switch her as well.

How long has she been doing it? I ask this because my kids started dance last year (when they were 4), and it took about a month for my son to warm up enough to enjoy it. However, if it has been a month or more and she isn't enjoying it, I would definitely not waste more money on it. See if you can get the money you have paid to go towards the gymnastics class.

Thanks for the replies...she has been doing this for five weeks....we are paid through november...so I will try for two more weeks.....if same, then we will quit. Gymnastics is at another place entirely...so if we quit, will take december off (away for ten days of it) busy like all with the holidays.....and try gymnastics in January.....maybe officially turning 4 (on dec 31) will make a difference...and will ask the new place if we can try one class first......

I'd say that if she doesn't like it after five weeks, she's not going to change her mind.
Ballet, tumbling, AND swimming - that's a lot for a three year old.

my daughter started ballet at 4 also, and she kinda liked it. the next year she did tap and she liked that better. this year, she is doing jazz which she likes the best. i found that ballet was a little boring for her and the tap and jazz are more fun.
