We traveled on a train yesterday in Ione, Washington. Loved it! Had a wonderful time. Saw some areas that we haven't visited in years and, when you travel by train, you get to see some areas that you wouldn't by car. At one point we were parked over a dam.

There is a train club in Nashville, that DH and I use to go on a lot.

They only run to certain areas, and it is a limited number of times during the year.

But it is fun and well worth the money.

We go to the Essex Steam Train station for train rides. Its really a lovely place to enjoy old steam trains. They do the Thomas ride every year, the Polar Express ride, ect. They also do a special train ride every summer where they take you by train to the steam boat dock, then you get a 2 hour ride on the Steam Boat Becky Thatcher. Then the boat docks, and train takes us back to the station.

For you Indiana Jones fans, The train we ride is the train that he rode in the last movie, the one that was filmed in New Haven, Ct.

I think there is one - which we never did much research about.

But my dream ride is in American Orient Express - American Orient Express

DH thinks it will be filled with rich old people. :-)

No train rides here but I wish we did. I loved riding the train system in Australia. THey go everywhere. The neat thing was that some of the stations were underground. The underground areas were like full cities with grocery, restaurants, dry cleaners, elctronics stores. Even Krispy Kreme and Gamestop were all underground.
