Awhile back I researched free music downloads. My requirements were that they had to be legal, no programs to install, no file-sharing, no "trial" offer, and no giving any information like credit cards. I ended up finding quite a few, even a number of sites devoted to kids music.

Some of the free legal music sites:
Music at Download.com - They have a wide variety of music, including comedy and spoken word.

Freeplaymusic - This site has lots of downloads available for free download for home, private, personal, non commercial use in several categories.

Some of the free legal kids music sites:
Rainbow Planet - Many of the songs offered here were written by 1st - 3rd graders.

Chuck Brown and the Chuckleberries - Their music is aimed toward kids who are too old for little kids music but not ready for teen music.
