Since it was only me and my 9 yr old and my 4 yr old, we decided to go to the Pizza Ranch Buffet tonight. It cost me $24 8 bucks a person, even for the little one!!! I watch some of those people put the food away and I am sure they get their money's worth, but I just cannot eat that much!! I ate way too much, because I felt like I was getting jipped. I know that the 1 piece of pizza and bowl of peas my 4 yr old ate was not worth $8 !! I know dh and I have discussed this before when we went to a Chinese buffet. How do some people eat so much???? I think we are going to avoid buffets from now on.

WooHoo!! I just called to ask about how much it cost and it was suposed to be 66cents per year for kids. They told me I needed to tell them the kids ages when I paid, and I said I did. So they offered to refund me $15 or give me a $15 credit. I did not feel like going back out there tonight, so we have a $15 credit. I will save it for later in the month when we are broke and I don't feel like cooking (I can use it to order pizza too ! )

Thank goodness. I was wondering why a buffet place didn't have a reduced rate for kiddos!

Good for you for calling and getting a credit. I wouldnt have paid $8 per kid. And no, I dont eat enough at a buffet either to make it worth it, never mind the kids!

Unfortunately, I can and I feel like I have to, sooo....I have stopped eating at buffets with the exception of Cici's. We can still eat cheaply there ($15 for 5 of us today when we went) and I don't feel like I have to stuff to "get my money's worth".

I have learned I just plain cannot do buffets. Eating is my drug, alcohol, vice, whatever . . .

No, I can't really eat enough to make it worth it. Sometimes it's easier to just order the buffet; no waiting, more selection, etc., and the price isn't much more than ordering off the menu anyway. I try to remind myself not to try to "get a good deal" by eating more and walking out with that bloated whale feeling!

A cheap night for us used to be for us to go to Cici's pizza, but since they raised their prices and ds is more expensive as well since he turned 5, we no longer go there. The screaming kids are enough to drive you crazy, and the food isn't even that good. The pizza is OK, the rest - soup, salads, etc. are just common. For the amount we'd spend for even just the three of us, I'd rather go somewhere much better, get a real waitress, and not be around the chaos.

As a general rule, I stay very far away from buffets. The food in my opinion is just not good.

My dh and I had date night on Friday and we did go to a buffet then - I forgot about that. It is a local Greek/Turkish restaurant that is so good! It is less expensive to get the buffet than the menu and you get to try a lot of really yummy stuff. I don't leave there feeling bloated, but as a general rule I avoid buffets. Ryan's is the WORST! I can't stand to watch other people there there is so much gluttony going on.

Stormy, I have noticed that some Cici's are better than others. We won't go to the one in Pensacola due to the chaos. Ours is one of the nicer ones, thankfully. I do only go when I have a coupon and there have been lots lately!

We get our money out and then some. We used to eat at buffets before we had our dd. Then it was just the three of us. My brother can eat for two on a normal day, while my dh eats a little bit less than that.

We normally stay away from foods that we get at home often - therefore we normally drop the starch and look mainly at the meats and the vegetables.

We never ever paid full cost either as we went on student night, so it was half price for two of us. With not drinking anything but water we worked out that my brother and I eathing would cost the same as one takeaway meal for a person.
