We've used Netflix and Blockbuster Online and we loved them both. I do think we are going to switch to renting them for $1 from Redbook now that it's at our grocery store though.

I use Blockbuster online. We have the one-at-a-time plan for $9.99. If we play our cards right, we get one in the mail in time for Fri. night, watch it, and return it to the store to get a new one for Sat. night. Plus, there is a coupon for one free in-store rental per month, so right there, I'm up to 9 rentals a month (on average).

Plus, some movies are guaranteed in-stock in the store, and I've learned that if I go in on a Sat. night of the first week it's out, they often are out of stock and will offer a free raincheck for that movie. :happy dance: Of course, the key to all this is that we have a BB store within 1/2 mile, so I pass it almost everytime I leave the house, so it's very convenient. Let's just say I stretch that $9.99 till it screams!

We had Netflix for about 2 years, but started having less time and more movies piling up that we have stopped for a while. I keep a running list though of things I want to see when we resume in a few months/next year, that our library doesn't get, like anime, and old shows like Bewitched. Netflix is nice because the movies usually arrived the day after they were sent, and there's so much to choose from, I was browsing Blockbuster online the other day, and didn't find nearly the same amount of stuff that I liked as I did at Netflix.

I deal with Netflix alot on the mail route. So my question to those who subscribe to it: Do they have any kind of warning to customers not to place Netflix DVD's inside your mailbox on an extremely hot or cold day for a long period of time?? What do they do about broken ones, because if you knew how most mail carriers bundle their mail,it's easy to break one of them unknowingly until your placing it in their mailbox and realize it.
Some people place their dvd's in their mailboxes in the morning with the flag up before they leave for work, well if you don't arrive at their house until say 3:00pm to pick it up, chances are the heat inside that mailbox is going to warp them. Same if it's too cold outside, they snap easier. So who pays for broken or warped DVD's,does the company give you credit? how does that work? Thanks, i'm curious because dh and i are considering this for the winter months.

I got a DVD once that was cracked right in half. I just followed the instructions for a broken DVD on their site and they sent me a new one right away. I sent back the broken pieces and I wasn't penalized for it at all, in any way.

You can see on their site how to handle missing DVD's, broken or scratched DVD's...what their policies are etc

Just go to the site and click on "Help" up in the right hand corner to see FAQ's...

I have the three movie plan with Netflix as well. LOVE IT! We do movie night like 2 or 3 times a week and it is great. We all love watching them and our 2 year old nephew yells, "MOVIE, MOVIE!" and will sit and watch, great value!

I like Netflix a lot - we have had it about three years. One of the movies we have out is usually a kids movie - it's great because they can keep it as long as they like. We watched Cars about 20 times before finally sending it back, but I know that as soon as I paid the $15 to just buy it, they would have lost interest. My kids know that to get another kids movie they have to send theirs back and it works well. I didn't know you could put it on hold - we may look into that next summer. Summer is the only time of the year we don't really get our money's worth - the kids stay up later so we aren't able to watch our grown-up movies as often unless we want to stay up until midnight to do it.

we also joined netflix recently its so great cuz they even just dropped the price i think a 1.00. The only thing with damaged cd's is that they do keep track of how many damaged or lost dvds you have. If it gets to many then they start looking into your account. the thing is we dont' have a blockbusters around here and the only place to rent movies is the local gas station. so this is actually saving us a bundle! It take us only 3 days to get a new movie 1 day to send day 2 to process and send and day 3 we recieve!!!

I have had both Netflix and Blockbuster Online, and I have to say that both are simply awesome. I am currently using Blockbuster, mostly because the option of taking the DVDs in and exchanging them for another one, plus the free monthly coupon.

If you watch a lot of movies, then either of these programs is for you. Otherwise, you're better off with a Redbox or finding coupons for a local store.

We have had Netflix for about a year and we LOVE it. It is so much easier and cheaper than having to remeber to return the movies on time.
