DVD's are the one thing my dh collects. He very rarely pays full price unless it is for a collection that just won't go on sale, then he wants it as a gift. I did manage to convince him to buy storage binders so I don't have all the cases taking up a room in the house.

We used to buy more when the kids were smaller...now they want to watch a particular movie a few times (thank goodness for Netflix) and then they seem to lose interest and aren't so interested in buying it to have it home. There are a few they like to have, so I buy, gosh maybe 5 DVD's per year?

I just gave a friend of mine a ton of old VHS Disney Movies that were just collecting dust...I figure if they haven't watched it in two years - they're not going to!

I was just going to post about this today and see if anyone belonged. I thought about joining but I wasn't sure on their cost of shipping. Also, are the prices decent enough to warrant joining?

Us too..but like Stacey I justify it b/c we rarely (once or twicer a year) go to the movies, I only buy a new release now if we REALLY wanted to see it (got burned by Talladega Nights, thank you very much), or if it is on sale really cheap (Circuit City has Steel Magnolias this week for $5 and 13 Going on 30 for $5....2 movies I LOVE and don't own (My original Steel Magnolias broke and i never replaced it...good thing b/c you can't beat $4!)

Hi! I only buy DVD's if it is a guaranteed favorite unless I go to a rummage sale or thrift shop if they sell it cheap. The best bet is to rent them at your local library or do a dvd swap one weekend with neighbors or friends you trust. That way you get to see all sorts of movies. Or if you have cable, watch movies on there. There are also websites I am told that you can watch movies online. My sister does that quite frequently. I hear from her what movies were good to see or what movies were crap.

Everyone have a splendid day!

We used to buy them quite often when the kids were little because they would watch them hundreds of times. We rarely buy one now. My daughter wanted one the Smallville series last year for Christmas and before that we bought Narnia...that's about it for us.

i do buy some movies, not very many. i do have a membership with columbia house, so everyone once in awhile i buy them. i used to work at a movie store and i would buy used movies like crazy, i do have quite a few movies, but i did get rid of some on ebay awhile ago. we also have a dvd burner so if we rent it on paperview than it gets recorded. in total i have over 150 movies recorded, and then another 50+ of the store bought movies. i usually try to stick to the movies on sale. i also watch my movies repeatedly, and i tend to buy ones i have already seen so i know i like it.

We buy a lot of children/family DVD's. We joined the Disney Movie Club - which was cheap. It was $1.99 each for the first 4 movies and then you could get more for a discounted price. The requirments are flexible not like some other clubs. The best part is we used the discounted price to buy some Christmas presents. You can't beat $2.00 for a Disney DVD. DH and I rent movies rather than buy them. My mom usually busy ever new movie that comes out so I borrow from her too.

DH used to collect them but we went through them and sold some at my parent's garage sale that we didn't watch anymore. We still have a lot and of course a lot of kids and family movies. Now, we only buy them if they are cheap at Goodwill, Yard sales and you guessed it China Mart. You, gals are lucky when it comes to library rentals. Our libraries movies aren't free unless they are educational VHS. They charge like 2.00 a DVD rental. It's cheaper than renting from Blockbuster but it would be nice to rent them free from the library
