Do you buy many dvd's?

We used to buy alot, but found that most of them we do not watch often enough to make it worth the money. For us it is usually a better money decision to rent it for $1.49 instead of buying.

NO! I have never been one to buy a lot of DVD's. When we got married, I owned one - The Polar Express! Dh used to buy a lot of DVD's. He has sold some at garage sales and kept some. I just don't watch movies that much to justify the expense.

Now, that being said, if I see one at a garage sale for $1 or $2 that is a favorite, I would be likely to pick it up. But spending $20 or even $10? No way.

Yeah, we are bad about buying DVD's, but here is our justification:

We usually buy one movie maybe once a month. This is for our "at home date night". And if we went to the theater, paid $6 a ticket each to get in, plus popcorn and drink, we would be spending well over $20 total....but instead we go to Target, buy a DVD for around $15 and MOST of the time we will watch it more than once....IMO a lot of movies these days you have to watch more than once just to get everything...LOL....the last one we bought was the new James Bond movie Casino Royale...and I had to watch it three times to understand everything....

If it was just me there probably wouldn't be a DVD in the house. It's not my thing! But my husband .... that is another story.

We've attempted just renting but are simply horrible about the late fees. So in that sense buying the movie made sense. Also he rarely pays full price for any movie. Usually he finds most of his movies second hand. My husband LOVES pawn shops for that very reason.

We (or should I say DH) has an extrememly bad habit of needing to own every "good" movie out. We do go in spurts but on the average we must buy 50+ new releases a year....not to mention the "evil place" ( the $5.50 bin at WalMart) .

Honest to Pete, we could open our own rental store ~ it's crazy!

We buy every one that comes out! DH insists on it. We usually get them at the Game Exchange though for $12.95. It burns me to pay full price.

We buy an average amount of DVD's. We just get the ones we call "buy worthy". Are we going to watch it more than once, will the kids like it? We have bought some of the classics that we grew up watching, we have some of the tv seasons, and I am a sucker for the Disney movies for the girls.
We shop the "evil place" that kellynkay mentioned. We have found alot of good movies in the cheap bin. We have alot of used dvd's that we bought form Blockbuster and Hollywood video. I also belong to Columia House and get somne good deals on dvd there.

I rarely buy adult movies. I buy the kids one because I know they'll be seen over and over and over. But the adult ones I have? They may have been seen once (I still haven't seen Da Vinci Code and I wanted it so badly!)

I do get music ones if it's an artist I really like. But there are so many bad movies today, I just wouldn't waste my money.

I'm trying to think what dvd we last bought. We only own Star Wars-the 4, 5 & 6 trilogy, Shawshank Redemption, Gladiator and Signs, although the only one we watch over and over is Star Wars. The kids have 28, I just counted- a lot of them are Disney like Nemo, Lion King, Cars. Cars is the newest dvd we own but my ds got that from his grandpa on his b-day. I think the last one we bought was either Shark Tale (had to be 2yrs ago since that was a potty training gift!) I think last year we bought Elf and Shrek 2 from one of those game places really really cheap. I just can't imagine dropping $20 on a dvd every time we went to Walmart/Target. We will spend the money on Lord of the Rings, I really want that trilogy set and also Star Wars when they come out with a box set of all 6movies, even though we have the set of 3 I'd like to have one of them all together.
