We went to the library and the kids got some prizes for their summer reading program:happy dance: We also checked out a bunch more books and the dvd Everyone's Hero. Then we stopped at the video store. I saw the same movie in their new release section. We checked it out for a week, totally free from the library. There it is $1.49 for one night Then I let the boys check out video games. We got 3 games, 2 gamecube games and one Wii game and it cost $18 But they get to play them until Saturday at 10pm (well, before that since they will be in bed by then) Is that a good deal to entertain 3 boys for 5 days or not? I usually only let them check out one game at a time and only occassionally. But today I splurged and let all three pick out a game.

for your sanity, i think its a good thing

I don't think $18 is such a splurge, and it wil keep them happy and out of your hair most the time hehe

That sounds about right! We usually pay about $5 for GC and $10 for Wii. It might have been more to your advantage though, to get one game per week. You could have had something fun for them to do for three weeks instead of one, at the same price. I'm sure they are very happy though .

I know you don't do that often but that is one reason we do Blockbuster online. Every month I receive 2 coupons that are good for movies or games it is so worth the monthly price because renting games gets pricey and we watch at least 3 movies a month usually more. The kids get some, there are some I like and some dh likes. Or dh and I together

eta the games you can keep at least 10 days prior to be fined!

I did notice that our library has a large selection of Playstation/Wii games that can be loaned out now. The librarians said that many libraries are trying to appeal more to teens and this is one way to do it. Might be worth a try to call around to different libraries in your area to see if you could get them for free.

These Days I have Become Immune to Spending "frivoiously" On my kids.

last Week we bought the Kids this Dumb , cheap Pool - they wanted
I knew it was a Pos But - I Am tired of telling them to wait - cause they Insist they Know what they want.

Anyway it cost me 12.00 - and I Set it up and It was Lame - But it Did entertain them for three afternoons before It got a hole in it and I Threw it away. But Now I look at it as a Cheap entertainment tool. Where else could they have had fun For under 2.00 each??

I paid about 12.00. 3 kids times approx. 9 hours of Fun- that Comes out to a Good deal IMO!!
They Wouldn't Have had that much Fun with a "better" Pool - Cause I Would've been more Worried about it if I spent alot on it .
Plus that was 3 days I didn't have to Hear- "I'm bored"
and 3 days I didn't have to Spend a Dime to Eat anything On the Run-
We always seem to Stop For a slushy or if I go by the Grocery store - everyones Hungry for Something I can "just Go in and get the Ingredients For"

Okay, we are getting some really high humid temps, so I can't send them out to play, so I am thinking that the money was pretty well spent

For $18 (or less) you can go to Gamestop or EB and buy used games to keep for that price. Once they get tired of them, scoop them all up and take them back for instore credit and get more games.
