We go back and forth on whether it's a good deal or not. It's probably not but what I do like is the no waiting for food with the kids. My favorite is Old Country Buffet. There is such a variety that everyone can pick a little of this little of that and it works well. Plus we don't generally order dessert so this is a real treat for my kids to each get their own dessert.

The only time we eat at buffets is at Sweet Tomatoes, which is a salad buffet restaurant and my 7 yr old will actually eat there too. Or when we are in Vegas. If you score on coupons you can eat cheap - real cheap! We once ran into a $5 buffet that night and I had a b1g1 coupon for that - we both ate for $5. Now it wasnt a 5 star meal it was more like home cooking, not too bad though.

We try not to go to buffets since I do not want to eat too much and stuff myself. However, when we do go I tend to eat the items that cost the most to make (money or time); like seafood, meat or time consuming desserts. Also, I take little at a time ... so I need to make more trips. If I do not love an item I do not eat it. I also stay away from items I know I can cook better.

He isn't overweight because of it either. Our date night place is a nice pizza place. For a large pizza (which hubby could eat by himself) it is like $26 dollars. For the buffet, 2 sodas, and breadsticks it comes out to $16.01. It is cheaper for us even if i don't eat more than one piece. PLUS they have a salad bar that is included in the buffet price, so not everything you eat will be bad for you. Children are reduced price too. I think that if that are under 2 they eat free but i'm not sure.

OMG! Buffets are my families favorite restaurants! LOL

I can never eat enough for it to be worth the money though. We just went to the Golden Corral a couple weekends ago and it was $22.79 for two and I had water!

I hate Cici's pizza!! I used to like it but the pizza is like cardboard! There used to be a Chinese place here that had the best buffet. It wasn't very big, but had alot of choices on it and it was cheaper than ordering off the menu. They just closed last month. The other buffets in our area are definitely over priced.. they are big, but I don't eat enough food!

I can definitely eat enough to get my money's worth at buffets. My daughter? Forget it. She's 14 now, and has always been a picky/small eater. I never took her to buffets as a rule. The buffets know that most little kids don't eat much, and charge a certain amount per year of age. At 14, she'd be charged an adult price, and she usually doesn't eat that much, so I wouldn't take her now.

I'm a big eater, but exercise (jog) a lot. I'm thin enough at 5'7" and 145lbs (I'm large framed so this is skinny for me).
My DH is 6'6" and a chef. He weighs about 170lbs. He can eat and eat, lol.
My DD is 5'6" and about 110lbs and eats like a bird most of the time (she doesn't get that from my side of the family, lol).

So, DH and I - yes on the buffets for getting our money's worth. DD - forget it.

my ds doesn't eat enough to get him a seperate meal, so i just get a small plate and he eats off my plate. they have never said anything to me about it before. but in the buffets here they don't have a kids rate, and my ds doesn't even eat 3.00 worth of food, i am not gonna pay 8.95 for his plate of food. i don't really eat enough to make the buffet worth it, but dh does. but we hardly ever eat out. and all we have here is chinese buffets.

We get our money's worth when dh and I eat out at a Chinese buffet. We also get our money's worth at a pizza buffet---dh's stomach is a bottomless pitt when it comes to pizza. Plus many pizza places give a discount for children. Other than that we avoid them. Anymore some of them are just gross. Bishops was bad the last time we went. There used to be one called Ryan's and had a horrible experience--saw some very gross things. (manager gave us our money back when we told him we can leave quietly or make our observations know very loudly ).

Great job calling back and getting the credit! Personally, I'm not shy around food and can *definitely* eat my money's worth at buffets (in fact, the probably lose money on me hehe) Unfortunately for my waistline, I've never met a food I haven't liked

LOL My dh is a chef as well (Italian food) and he can pack it away like a pro - he says he does it for his career - "but honey, nobody trusts a skinny chef!"

Yes, I do! I love to eat salad, so we occasionally go to Souper Salad or Souplantation or whatever it's called here. You'd never know it, but boy can I eat.
