I used to put away quite a bit at Ponderosa's buffet years ago. (I can still remember getting a whole 4" plate of diced ham with cheese sauce on it LOL) My sister and I could definitely eat our money's worth and have a sundae at the end for dessert. I haven't been there in near 15 years. Now, I could totally eat my money's worth at the chinese buffet, but they closed and I haven't tried the other buffet in town. Pizza hut buffet isn't that great (I would get it for the salad more than anything). I am glad that I went to Shady Maple Buffet when I was in Lancaster last month (even at a $15 price tag). My SIL paid so I definitely ate my share -- 3 plates stuffed full of food, and dessert to top it off. I was overfull, but it was DELICIOUS and it was a treat that I don't normally get, so I indulged.

The best tip? Get the buffet for lunch, not dinner. Cheaper prices and there is usually not too much of a difference in the foods they put out between the two sessions. Also, food is fresher in the afternoon than it is at night, when it's been sitting in a warming tray for 6 hours because they made a giant batch of mashed potatoes or macaroni and cheese for the entire day.

my husband likes all the food he gets at buffets, but he always complains about how much people eat. so I don't go to them very often, much prefer to eat off a regular menu than listen to my husband complain. when we do go , we go to the ones where the kids eat free or reduced price. i enjoy the salad bars at the buffet and tend to fill up there before eating regular food.

I don't think we ever eat our money's worth. However it is nice to have so much selection and be able to eat right away with the kids.

In a short answer, no.

My dh and I have never been huge into buffets. I was because I grew up with them beings I'm a child of 5 other siblings.

The only buffet we go to and is worth it to us is CiCi's Pizza. It's $4.95/person. Free for 3 & under. Otherwise I try to NOT eat out much due to prices.

My dh and I were on our way home with the girls after doing alot of running around and were starving, we got to thinking of stopping by Taco Bell and it came to us...umm ya let's just go to Aldi's and grab 2 of the $1.99 pizza's.

We get our money's worth. We don't go to them a lot, but when we do we eat! We were in Ridgedale, MO in January and went to a wonderful brunch and it was more that we would normally pay, but with the seafood and steak it was worth the money.

I think of it as paying for the selection and not really how much you can eat. I know most of our friends and family STUFF themselves and don't eat the rest of the day. I cannot eat like that. I eat a normal meal plus a dessert. The last time we went to the buffet my MIL had 5 desserts. She is not a large lady, I don't know where she put it.

Im sorry, but CICI's pizza is the yummiest pizza I've ever had! We drove over an hour once just to go eat there. I definitely get my $'s worth, we eat TOO much and love it. It feels like I make up for the rest of the week when we go. Chinese food is the best and we go there at least once a week.

No we don't do them at all. We have done Cici's on the past but I hate their pizza...I will say I like their garlic/cheese sticks though. I just think they are all nasty and yucky...

My dh and I could never get our money's worth at a buffet. It's hard enough anymore when we go out and try to order 2 dinners, every place just serves way too much food, we usually just get an appetizer or two to split and have a couple of drinks, when we go out.

Now if we had a Greek restaurant with a buffet, I would for sure be getting my money's worth there! I would be packing on the pounds!
