We have a drive in near us and as a summer treat we go. Yes I do pack a cooler and a snack bag. They have a awsome concession stand, but I'm not paying the price..

At the movies we buy the popcorn and the pop but i do take in fruit snacks or crackers..

We don't sneak when we go to the movies its beacause we have the money for the movies and the extras because its a treat

When we go to the drive-In we do bring our own stuff, its allowed however this year to bring your own things you have to pay $5.00 but its going to keep it open because thats where they make the money! The admission we all pay i am pretty certain most goes back to Hollywood!

My DS actually was the first one to"sneak" and other than that he is very honest. The prices are outragous for both popcorn and soda at the theaters. I understand making a profit but the markup in absolutely insane!!!!!! That is why I either sneak the sodas or go without.

you are absolutely right. i never thought of it that way. i think everyone agrees that movie theater food is expensive, but maybe we should just plan to either buy food there or not at all. i guess if we don't have the money to buy drinks and popcorn there, we should go without, or just not go.

I do but not that often and my MOM ALWAYS did when we were kids there was no other way we whould have ever got to go to the movies because we whould have asked for something and my mom woulod have felt bad if we couldn't get us something since we didn't get to go to the movies that often also. (we werent' poor but we didn't have extra my dad was an acholic whom would drink it away on payday ) so MY mom would sneak in Wendys or what ever. She was good drinks and all I don't know how she did it. her purse must have been soaked in the inside but she did it for us. I will sneak in candy but we usually buy popcorn and drinks.

When we do get to go to the occasional movie, I have brought candy (generally a different type than what is sold at the theater), but we do buy popcorn and drinks. Personally, I could get by with just the drink; it's my DH who must have his popcorn. At drive-ins, we've brought some goodies in, but we've also purchased from the concession stand too.

When my kids go by themselves to the movies I don't send them with filled pockets, I do give them the extra for the food, but when My husband and I join we do sneak food in. I don't feel bad or that I'm going to make them into a criminal by this. I have good kids and they know the complexities of life.

We never ever buy food at the movies. Sometimes, if I remember, I will bring a box of candy from the grocery store. I don't feel like it's sneaking. I've walked right in with a Smoothie before and they didn't even bat an eye. It's not like I'm bringing popcorn (yuck). Also, I generally have snacks and a water bottle in my purse anyway.

I always sneak in candy but I have candy for diabetic reasons. I don't usually eat it at the movies. we don't go often so we usually get concession popcorn/pop. the kids all share pop. I have my own b/c it's diet and nobody likes diet but me. dh usually gets his own also. we all share the popcorn. the pop and popcorn are free refills. with 5 people we usually have at least 3 refills.

I have to agree with Happymom and 2bearsmom on this one. Sneaking is just wrong and not a very good example for the kids.

If I do not want to splurge at the consession stand, then I tell the kids they better eat something before we go, because we are not getting anything there. But that is rare. In my book going to the movies in the first place is a treat and a "splurge" so we "go all out" so to speak, and get a popcorn and drink, and maybe some candy to share.

But now a days, my kids are older so they save their money and pay for their own stuff, and usually are with a group of friends and good 'ol Mom stays home.
