Definitely stay at one of the hotels outside of the park. We like the Park Vue Inn. It is right across from the main entrance. We used to have season passes so we would go about 3 times a year and stay over a night.
What my cousin did with her family of 4 girls and 2 adults was pack snacks and drinks. Each girl had their own backpack that they had to carry with the snacks and drinks of their choosing. They would snack all day and then have dinner either at the park or at Downtown Disney. If the girls wanted to buy food at the park, they would use their allowance money that they saved. I know that there is an Albertson's grocery store only a few blocks from the park. They would stop there and load up on snacks and drinks before hitting the park and keep the rest in their hotel room.
Definitely get a room with a mini fridge and microwave.
Go online and get coupons for Dennys, Mc Donalds, and IHOP. Those are the mainstream restaurants right outside the park.
You can buy discounted passes through Automobile club and at Costco. Also kids 3 and under are free so you don't need to get a pass for them.
If you can hit the park early morning and during the week it won't be as crowded. By noon it starts to get crowded even on weekdays.
If you have any birthdays coming up, maybe you can ask relatives and friends to buy you some Disney bucks that you can use at the park.
Have fun!
