If you only had a weekend, what would you do? What would you do to save money?

My back yard. It's like being in northern Michigan. Get out the grill, get out the croquet set, lay on the hammock. Put the music on. Firepit in the evening. Go inside for a jacuzzi tub. We hardly go away for weekends anymore in the summer as we just want to be home.

My sister has a cottage on a lake in northern Wisconsin (2 hours away). We borrow that a couple of times a year to get away.

Weekend at the Jersey shore at the family beach house. We are one long block from the beach so we can easily come back and forth during the day. Then we come home for dinner and BBQ a feast. Then we head to Point Pleasant boardwalk for rides and ice cream. And we get out tkt. books for the rides this Easter weekend b/c they are buy 1 get 1 free!

Well, we have two.

Camping is the first (only costs gas to get there, $15/night for car camping, food). We avoid camping between Memorial Day and Labor Day when everyone else is camping, preferring the off-season which is cheaper and the fire is actually used for warmth!

The second one would be National Parks, Historical Sites, etc, coupled with free hotel rooms. I travel for work and get lots of points at hotels that can be redeemed. Also, because I'm elite we get coupons for free breakfast.

Camping! Love it. This year we are going camping as much as possible!

Staying home and turning off the phone, locking the doors, and just being lazy. One weekend we almost parked our cars somewhere else (we don't have a garage) because family members wouldn't take the hint!

MY BED! I would be in heaven if I could stay in bed all weekend! It's free yet it never happens with the kids around

Well if gas prices drop ....bwahahahaha... we go to my parents..they are 3.5 hours away and 15 minutes from Topsail Island...I could live at that beach. It isn't crowded, it is free (and coming from Jersey that is such a shock), even the food at the stand is cheap if you don't pack a lunch. THAT is my fav weekend getaway.

Otherwise...it is our backyard. Seriously. Minus the jacuzzi, we do what Mari does And now that the kids have a swingset back there...all that much better

Camping is our #1 weekend trip during the warm months.

#2 is when DH gets free hotel stays - He travels a lot for work so he racks up a lot of hotel "points"(?) - He's a member of a club where if you stay at a hotel so many times you get free nights. About once a year we'll get to go stay a couple nights somewhere, usually we pick Pigeon Forge & Smoky Moutains
