I'm headed to New Holland, PA in a couple weeks for a women's ministry retreat and we'll be staying right outside of Lancaster. I was wondering if anyone could give me a heads up on some awesome things I just HAVE to see when I get the chance to visit. Thanks!

You will be about an hour away from Hershey Park. Hershey, Pennsylvania - The Sweetest Place on Earth

I don't know of anything that is "AWESOME" in Lancaster.. LOL It is obviously Amish country. There are lots of cool little country shops with homemade candles, baked goods, furniture, frames, etc. There are also outlets Rockvale Outlets - Lancaster Pennsylvania .

Hope you enjoy your retreat!

I lived in Lancaster, PA for 30 years, there is so much to see!
Hershey is wonderful, definitly check out Chocolate world, it's a free interactive ride tour of how they make chocolate and it's history, great restaurants and shops. I agree with skiimommy, the outlets on route 30 are awesome and if you continue down 30 E there is Kettle Kitchen which has all sorts of amish stores, homemade jams, relishs etc. quilts and buggy rides. If you contact the Lancaster visitors bureau they will give you a coupon booklet with all sorts of discounts. Shady Maple smorgasboard is probably the biggest buffet I've ever seen! It's so good!
Have a great time!

I am Here!!

I live about 8 miles from New Holland .

Where are you staying?

I don't think there is too much excitement around Here other than the food.

Well , to outsiders the PA Dutch food is Good.
Everyone loves it.

I Haven't been to shady Maple Buffet in about 8 yrs. - And I only live About 5 miles From it.

Shady Maple is a must, get there early for dinner, there's always a wait. If you don't want to do the whole Hershey Park you can just go to Chocolate World for free.

The one place I make sure I go everytime I'm in Lancaster Co. is the Peaceful Valley Amish Furniture store (it's off of Route 340, not far from Intercourse, PA). They sell the best jam there and their furniture is beautiful. Other than buying jam, I'm not usually going to buy, but I always have to go - if only just to window shop.

This is such a cool place! Lot's of little shops all together in one place. The jams and jelly are to die for.. and you can try alot of the goodies for free at their sampling stations.

Check it out here..
Welcome to Kitchen Kettle Village
