Weird, I've never heard of that. That't too bad. Maybe they can figure something out. It seems like lots of people would bring spouses. When I've traveled with my husband (or back in the day when he traveled with me) we always booked the flight we were paying for (so we could find a decent rate) and then booked the same flight for the person flying on the company's money. Hopefully you can do the same. It was so dumb because the corporate flight is always booked as fully refundable so they paid like $1400 while we paid $250.

DH said that in the past, those who wanted their spouses to come made reservations for them to come after the conference was over and had their return flight dates changed to a later date. I'm checking out some pricing for Thurs 9/11 - Sat 9/13 (or Sun 9/14).

We just went to Vegas for our anniversary in March. My husband had to go on business and I tagged along. I used his frequent flier for my plane and his was paid for.

We stayed at Ballys for $300/3 nights with taxes. It was very reasonabe and the room was great! As far as shows, unless you are military, there isn't much of a discount, (I did talk them into a civil service discount) but it is worth going to at least one to say you did it!!! We ate our bigger meals at lunch to save also. We just walked around and saw the sites more than anything.

Honestly, I was done with Vegas after a day. Red Rocks Canyon is nearby and was a lot more fun than Vegas to me. We also rented a car and went to Zion National Park one day. That was SOOOO worth it in my opinion.

I didn't find AAA to be that big of a savings really.

ETA: We saw KA (Cirque de Soleil) and it was great! O was my first choice, but was sold out and WAY expensive! I called the Cirque de Soleil people and they recommended Ka as over Mystere, but I bet either would be good. Both of those are not as expensive as O and then there is the X rated one, which we were not interested in.

A lot of the stuff I liked was free. I loved the waterfall at the Bellagio (which we could watch from our window at Bally's across the street). We are not big gamblers so just walking through the casinos was enough for us. I spent $4 and made $4 so no big deal there for us.

I haven't done too much in depth searching yet, but the lowest I've found so far is $300 roundtrip.

Well any hotel on the strip wont be "far" from another because it is all pretty much crammed together. Hubby and I walked from the luxor to the stratosphere. pretty much one end of the strip to the other. I would find a less expensive room and just get the hop on/off bus ticket and you can just have him take it to the conference daily. theres no law that says he has to sleep in his assigned room. it is vegas after all.
