Inner harbor seems to be a popular destination. We are planning on a day trip on 4th of July. Is it advisable to take a 5 yr old for the fireworks? What is a good spot to see fireworks? is it even worth it?

As of now we are planning to drive back after the fire works. I am expecting major traffic jams right after the fireworks.

Any advice, tips will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

i haven't been to the inner harbor for a couple of years, but we would stay because it's to long of a drive to come right back. we would stay by the airport because it is cheaper.

we live in Maryland so the drive is not too bad. I am not sure what the traffic situation is like after the fireworks end.

We did the DC fireworks last year and had a blast. We are thinking of checking out the inner harbor fireworks. I heard that inner harbor is safe but rest of the area is not safe.

I would like to hear people's experiences. Has anyone ventured to inner harbor on July 4th?

Thanks.

We saw the fireworks a couple of years ago. There is a park on federal hills where everybody sits on the hill. You have a great view of the harbor and the fireworks and it's much easier with the kids (our son was 3 at that time).

I don't think the traffic should be too bad since it's pretty close to the highway.

oh, just opened it and you have to exhange it at the Aquarium, so it won't work for those of you who aren't going there, sorry, I thought it could be used by anyone parking at the Harbor.

I went a couple years back and did not like it one bit. The fireworks were great, but the crowd was just too much. I was near the pavillion and there were times where I literally couldn't move, it was so crowded. I would try Fells Point or Canton area...you can still see the fireworks, but it might be a little better with parking.
