A great way to save on kids' photos and photos of the family, is to find a friend to take your pics and edit your own proofs with your photo editing software. There is so much in the way of photo editing software. You can eliminate your own red eye, crop what you don't want out of the pic, super impose the smiles you do want, change the pic to black and white or sepia or other enhancements. You end up saving yourself a bunch of time and money simply by using what you have and teaming up with a friend!

An added benefit of using what you have and a friend, it's so much more accomodating for your kids to be "on location" rather than a studio which makes them more comfortable and manageable in getting the pics and poses you want!

You can also find some great photo finishing deals at places like Walmart, Walgreens and CVS (etc) if you keep your eyes peeled!

Have you tried this?

Yes I have iPhoto on my macbook. It is great at editing & enhancing photos. For the past couple of years I have had our picture taken here by a friend and then just enhanced. Does save $$$

Yes, I have 3-4 different programs that I use and my DD also uses the photo thing at Walmart to help with editing of certain pics.
It is so much cheaper and easier to have your own especially if you are trying to do family photos and the younger kids don't corporate well.

my windows vista has the basic photo editing on it. It works fine. I just load it up on a card and go get it printed somewhere.

I just use the photo editing stuff on walmart.com when I upload my photos to them.

For special projects at home, I will use Microsoft Picture Manager.

Both are easy to use and my pics always come out great!
