Question What's the best money you've spent on a toy for your kids?

Even though kids get tons of toys throughout their childhood, they usually go back to the same old favorites. Of all the toys your kids have, what do you think is the best thing you've ever bought them?

The best thing we ever bought our dd was a stuffed koala bear. We bought it for her when she was 18 months old and she still plays with it. He's looking rough, but she loves him. Because she loves her koala so much, she's actually gotten on the internet and learned about koalas. She's done many school projects on koalas.

Leapster for dd when she was almost 3. She loved touching the buttons and "playing" with her cousins' game boys so Santa brought her a Leapster. She still goes back to it now even though now she's 7 and Santa brought her a DS for Christmas this year. She offically gave it to her brother who is 3 and he plays with a lot, too. They both have used it in the car on long trips and it has been dropped about a zillion times and still works perfectly. It has been a learning tool for them both. The Write and Draw game was awesome for helping her write letters. So was the princess one.
I just said to dh last week that the Leapster was the best money spent on a toy for the kids. It is fun, durable, and educational all at the same time.

We get older ds drawing stuff since that it was he loves to do. It's not a toy but it's worth the money we spend after we see what he makes.

Fisher Price Learning Puppy. He was about $15. She loved it as a baby, repeated it and still loves it at 3.

DS, Bionicles. Although he is thoroughly obsessed now, and I have to fight to get him to do anything else, it has so helped his delayed motor skills and creativity as he takes pieces from different Bionicles to creat a new one, then makes up a story and "movie" about the stories he dreams up.

Also, pens and a ream of paper, which do end up getting replenished.

Leapster for ds and dd. They each got one at the age of 3. Ds has outgrown his now, but he wore it out! Ds is well on her way to wearing hers out too!

For us...probably legos, playmobil and nice craft supplies. My kids (11 and 14) still play with their legos and playmobil. I like how, over the years, they've really fostered their imagination. Good quality craft supplies have been a good investment for us as well.
