Question Do you include birthdays in your budget?

Are you one of those who plans ahead for birthdays by setting money aside and buying gifts ahead of time or do you just wing it when the special day comes along?

If you are in the first group, I commend you. I'm great at budgeting, but for some reason I always seem to forget birthdays. I fall into the "wing it" category for birthdays, so I need to do better with my planning.

I have a limit for each child but I buy when I see something on sale that I know they would like. I already have all of the party goods and the goody bag stuff. I found it all deeply clearanced and got it for them then.

I hate having to put out large chunks of money at b-day time (we have b-day season here all three of my kids have b-days 3 to 4 weeks apart) so I do it a little at a time and keep a running tally of what I have spent.

I have a separate ING account set up for birthdays. I don't put much in there, $5 every pay check, but by the time a birthday rolls around we have enough to pay for the party/gifts.
