If you get it free, no problem. I wouldn't pay for life insurance on my children.

I used to have 10,000 for each child, but then I realized I could be doing better things with my money so now I don't and I just save extra for them.

We don't have any, but we could also afford to cover funeral expenses if anything happened to one of our children. No parent wants to think about losing one of their children, but it can happen to anyone. The last thing parents should have to worry about, is not being able to afford a proper buriel for their child.

Very good point. Money is far better spent on life insurance on a parent.

It is an emotional decision. We have insurance on the kids and pray we never have to use it. We did get whole life on the kids when they were born in anticipation of passing the policy off to the kids when they are older. It is very inexpensive for us (through the same agent we have been with for 20 years). Friends of ours lost a child and, unfortunately had to use their policy. After going through that they said they would always make sure they have insurance on their other children. It took a load off knowing where the $ was coming for the burial and misc. arrangements.

I absolutely have insurance on my children. I am the sole breadwinner. if something happened to my children, honestly, I could not nor would I be interested in working for some time. In order for me not to worry about where we will get the money to live, I think insurance is worth it. Besides, my company provides $10,000 free per child and I buy extra units for each child at $.16 per unit. Well worth the extra protection at less than $75 per year for both of them.

It goes beyond the ability to cover the cost of a funeral. Do you really think you can work 3 days to a week after your child dies? I know I definitely wouldn't!

I chose to opt in for life insurance at work, and for me to have something like $150,000 on me, $30,000 on DH and $10,000 on DD, it was $4 a month. I'm comfortable with that.
