Question Are the thrift stores in your area clean?

Many people on here have talked about how clean their thift stores are, especially the Goodwill stores. We have one relatively clean thrift store nearby that's run by a church. I haven't shopped there in a while, but the last time my dh dropped some stuff off for me he said it looked really clean and organized. Many of the other thrift stores in my area look like garbage dumps. The closest Goodwill store is in an ancient, run-down shopping plaza from the 1950's and smells like a backed-up toilet. I've been there once and it was one time too many for me.

Starlight, you need to meet me one wednesday, and let me show you the good thrift stores!

There is one two in Athens, that is awesome. The Goodwill (I think it must be the one your talking about) is a dump.

There is an awesome Goodwill in Fayettville! And one is Springhill TN, that is too die for!

The one at the Crutcher Center -- yes, that place is a major dump. I can't believe people actually eat at that old burger joint next door. There's also one on Hwy. 31 that looks so nasty that if I ever decided to drop some old stuff off, my old stuff would become insulted and jump back into my car.

There is one on 31 between where I work and Nick Davis Rd, in the old bowling alley. It is actually one of the good ones, I was talking about. The stuff in there is really clean and well organized. The only bad thing, is that they play Elvis gospel songs, the whole time the store is open.

The other one is down the road from UG whites, right off of the square!

Yep, that is the Goodwill I am talking about.

And as far as eating at the burger joint, if the grease doesn't kill you the roaches will: I have not eaten there since the late 70's!

we have several here...value village is very well organized and is clean all the time i have been there...a church run one is clean and a bit cluttered( too much stuff for too small a building)..the sally ann smells like mothballs( according to the kids) and the goodwill...they say it smells "funky" and they refuse to go into it so we no longer go there.

No, they are not clean. They are in bad parts of town and very run down. The Salvation Army smells like an outhouse.

I think ours is very clean. In the next town over, we have a brand new Goodwill and it is BEAUTIFUL! We have another thrift store, about an hour and a half away, and we don't go there anymore, too dirty, poor selection, and high prices. In fact DH and I were just discussing this very issue the other day.

The one that we go to is relatively clean. It is not nasty by any means. The Goodwill by my parents is small and cramped and smells bad.

All the Goodwill stores here are clean, but the Salvation Army is kind of questionable in the clean department.
