I've read a couple of money-saving articles that have recommended putting your shampoo in a pump bottle because one pump is all you need for your hair. Has anyone tried this, especially for their kids? Have you noticed that it makes your shampoo last longer?

I may try this with my dd since she thinks she needs a gallon of shampoo to wash her hair.

I haven't done it but I too heard to use a pump but to use the ones that make the liquid into foam (shampoo only doesn't work for conditioner)...goes even further.

I do use a pump, (easier to dispense, so I get less). And I love it! It does save me and my hubby on Shampoo. I also use it for my daughter's body wash.

It is NOT the foaming one, just a regular pump.

We buy the shampoo that comes in a pump (Dove, Finesse from Costco).

I can use very little, but my kids tend to use more than "one squirt", even when told not too. My 2 DDs and myself have long hair and I think the girls think they need a ton of shampoo.

We also have a water softener, so that helps stretch shampoo further.

I like the "foam dispenser" idea! We have some left over B&BW kids foam dispensers that we use for hand soap. I'll have to try that with shampoo.

yep we do this. I learned it in bueaty school thats how they taught us how much was required to shampoo your hair.

we had big gallon ones on the back bar so we used also rubberbands on the pumps so they could not pump down so far.

you only need a pea to a dime size depending on thickness and length of hair.

a dime size would never work on my hair - wish it would. I have very very thick hair. Whenever I go to a new stylist, I sit down and warn them that I have thick hair. They nod at me like "sure, whatever". Then they finally touch my hair and they say "You really do have thick hair." I have to use 3 pumps from my shampoo pump. It is really hard to get the shampoo onto my actual scalp and for my hair to feel clean.

I have tried the pump - started with shampoo that came with a pump. I too have to use more than one pump, but it still does seem to help make the shampoo last longer. Sadly, I'm the one thats usually guilty of using WAY too much shampoo so it really does help to remind me not to use so much.
