I havent got my school year info in the mail yet. It will have school supply list with it. I would guess that it will not include anything too expensive.

16 glue sticks is crazy!!! What on earth are they going to be doing!!! I only had to send 2 with my Kindergartener on the first day of school. I think believe between two kids (one 1st grader, one K) I ended up sending about six more glue sticks during the entire school year.

Wow, 16 glue sticks seems like a bit much!!

Luckily my ds school supply list is pretty normal, it did say to plan on replenshing the supplies through out the year, so I bought some extras(no biggie) I was surprised that the only thing that the teachers wanted to share in the classroom was a large box of Kleenex, last year they wanted note cards, ziploc bags and hand sanitizer.

I was going to say 12 glue sticks for Kindergarten, but you topped it with
16. I'm wondering if they are just trying to account for the glue they are going to eat.

DS started school this morning (year round), so we had to take all the supplies in to the Open House last night. I was surprised that everything was just put on the teachers desk. Just community property so to speak. I thought each child would keep their own supplies to themselves and use them through out the year. Guess not. I have a lot to learn, I guess.

I haven't gotten my school supply for this year yet but last year my DD, who was going into 1st grade, needed 72 pencils. 72 pencils!!! For what, I still don't know, even after I asked. She brought in 10. She also needed 5 boxes of crayons. She brought in 2.

I think the schools in general are getting ridiculous. Where have the days gone when children learned to take care of their stuff? Pitiful!!

They're asking for that quantity to supply all of the kindergarten classes not just your student. I admit it kind of bugs me but there are many parents that will not send in any supplies for their little ones so the extras you send in with your child will supply theirs as well so knowing that helps me a bit.

DS who is going into grade one needs "twistable" crayola pencil crayons only and then a billion boxes of ziploc freezer bags and kleenex boxes!

The community property style in Kindergarten works much better beacause you use each one until they are done. Glue sticks go the fastest. 12 or 16 is a little excessive. 8 is reasonable because each student will use at least 8 in a year. At least in my Kindergarten they would.

We didn't have to supply ziplocks, what are they used for?

We also had to supply 2 boxes of Kleenex, a bottle of Germ-X and Lysol wipes.

They're used as "Mailbags" for correspondence between school and home…each child gets one with their name on it and they are replaced when the bag fall apart, lost or is misplaced.
