There are lots of inexpensive ways that you can spend one on one time with your children. There is MUCH support to the idea that one on one time with each parent will increase family ties and benefit your relationships. This is HARD to schedule in today's over busy world.

Do you manage to do 'kid dates' on a regular basis?

If you have some frugal favorites, please share them so we can all use our ideas

At the age of 6, a 'picnic' is a HUGE favorite for my daughter with me AND dad.

Movie night is a biggie with 'just dad'.

She and I do movies occasionally, not free but fun.

We both try to spend a little one on one time with the kids. Last week DH took DS to car races. He LOVED that. DD and I went to Grandma's that same night and came home to took a bubble bath together.

A couple of weeks ago, DH took DD to the movie while DS and I .. I guess we stayed at home.

Even if it is just an occasional trip to the grocery store. We love our "dates" with both of our kids.

We don't schedule "dates" with the kids, but we do try to make sure that we do things with them individually as much as possible. DS and I do things together while DD is at school. DD and I do things together on the weekends or in the evenings after DS goes to bed. They do different things with DH at different times depending on what is going on. DS loves to help DH fix things so they will work on stuff together. They like to play trains as well. DD loves to color with DH.

We homeschool. So I have a mommy/son date just about every day. And daddy and son have a standing date once a week.

We don't 'schedule' it...it's just not something we think about. Luckily, both Dh and I are able to spend one-on-one time with our kids, even just doing the simple things in life. So it works for us.
