Snowpants for DS at Goodwill last spring $3.00, nwt. Winter coats for both kids on clearance at LL Bean in July. $40 each, but they'll be able to wear them for two years (maybe more for DD). DS's snowboots, on clearance at Land's End for $9.95 in July. Still looking for snowboots for DD.

DD#1 will hopefully fit into last year's. She is 2 but is such a peanut she can still fit into 18 months. I will also check the local consignment shops. DD#2 is 3 months and will wear hand me downs!

I traded on the bartering board for some winter sweaters and windbreakers, but I didnt even think of going to thrift stores for snow play jackets and pants...lol I dont know why! DH and I spotted a set at walmart for 25-30$ that included pants, a 2 in 1 jacket, mittens and a beanie. I'll have to go search the thrift stores!!

I bought dd's stuff last year when they went on sale. It was a great deal. I stocked up on mittens and gloves and she has two coats.

We are relocating to OK from HI so winter things are very needed! I have been checking the thrift stores here and have lucked out with 2 winter coats (one was $3 and one was $8), and I found 1 pair of boots for $3. Still need 2 more pairs but may have to wait till we get on the mainland.

I have never thought of that, thanks for the idea!

I got my daughter's coat from Meijers on clearance last year for $15.00 I found her boots at Goodwill As Is for about $2. The snow pants were given to me and people always give us hat and mittens so we have an overabundance. I did buy her a couple of Old Navy hat and mitten sets that were on sale about 3 years ago in a bit bigger size (2-3 yrs) and she can still wear them. But I think this will be the last year for them.

My youngest I got him a hat and mitten set on sale at Meijers for under $3 dollars, boots from Goodwill As Is for $2 and I he has a very nice coat and snow pant set that looks like it has hardly been worn for free. Someone had bought it from our Mop sale last year and left it and never called for it so I asked if I could have it.

My oldest son; I just found a very nice Lands End coat at a thrift store for $4 dollars. It looks like it has hardly been worn. we found nice gloves at yard sales this year for like $1 each and he has snow pants. He just needs snow boots.

I was fortunate enough to have a coworker give me a big ole bag of clothes her son outgrew.
Luckily there was a winter coat in there, in my son's size, from Children's Place in excellent condition!!!!!!

Plus I got hand me downs from a g/f & my dad bought my son some clothes from Gymboree.

He needs nothing now except socks, underwear & undershirts.

Yay!

I don't buy 'extra big' to allow for growth, but somehow we're able to use winter coats and snow/ski pants for at least two years. So we're on our second year this year for all our current stuff...so I will buy new coats for next year when everything goes on sale after the holidays, or from sites I like to shop at that clearance discontinued colors/styles of the brands they like. It's just a system that has worked well for me.
