Had the boys wear hand-me-downs from each other. Needed to buy 2 pairs of snow pants and I snagged them at Aldi's today. They're great! Thanks!!!

I totally scored both of my kids coats at garage sales this summer. Both were under $10 and both got nearly new, multiple layer Columbia coats. Which we really need as the snow gets deep here!!

A couple years ago, our WalMart way over stocked on their winter gear such as hats, gloves, etc. they still had a huge bin as of April and everything was $.25. I stocked up!!! I still have a grocery bag full of stocking hats and gloves. I know it seems like a lot, but my son is almost 10. He goes through gloves like candy....nearly a pair a week get lost. My daughter is two and I anticipate the same kinda thing.

I hit Areopostale clearance for DD a heavy vest and jacket. I also have made friends with the local consignment shop owners. They call me when anything in my families sizes come in. I got my daughter a light fall jacket from Old Navy NWT for $3 a couple of weeks ago. It really pays to make friends with the people at your local resale shops.

I bought DS a light jacket and a medium coat at Target this summer (why they were there, I have no clue) on clearance. The light coat for $3 the medium coat for $4. While shoppping at a consignment shop's annual Halloween costume opener (they don't put the costumes out until that day) I spotted a heavy OshKosh coat in new condition, and bought it for $11. In TN, you just never know what the weather will do. He's already used both the light and medium coats, somedays he needs a little more wind protection and somedays he just needs the extra sleeves, kwim? And with the winter predictions here, he might actually get to use the heavy coat. I have a slight addiction to hats, so he has plenty of those. We may buy him some heavier shoes as winter gets closer, but haven't really thought about it yet. It doesn't get COLD here until at least January, so that may be a good Christmas gift to think about for him.

DS1's coat is one that I bought for him 2 years ago - it didn't fit last year, so I'm hoping it will this year. Unless he has a huge growth spurt, I think it will

We don't get a ton of snow here, but enough that I like to have snow pants and boots for him. I've had good luck finding snow pants at a local thrift store last year and this year. Paid less than $5 for each. Boots, last year he had a pair that I found at a consignment sale for $2. This year I couldn't find anything in his size, so I bought a pair at Target for $15. More than I wanted to spend, but DS2 will eventually wear them also.

DS2 will be wearing DS1's old winter stuff.

We have a hand-me-down coat and I made a flannel-lined fleece jacket for in-between days. I might buy some mittens, but we'll do without boots.

When we first got back from Hawaii last year all we had were light weight jackets. I went to the Swap shop and got coats for free. This summer I got DS a lighter weight quilted Dickies coat for $5.

I had probs w/ DS losing gloves as a kid and solved that prob by sewing them to long shoe strings and then running them thru the sleeves so that it looks like the gloves are attached to the coat. Rarely lost a pair after that.
