Have you ever used a dance costume as a Halloween costume?

No, but it sounds like a good idea.

I used to teach ballet. One year we did this Hansel and Gretel thing. I still wear that costume if I dress up for Halloween. It is super cute, was quite expensive, and still looks great!

ETA: I realize you were probably talking about costumes for your kids.

Absolutely! One year my daughter was a bunch of grapes for a tap dance to "I Heard it Through the Grapevine". She wore a purple leotard, purple tights, and had purple balloons pinned to her. It was adorable. She even won second place in a costume contest!

This year in fact! MIL saves everything and has a huge box of SIL's old dance costumes. Oldest DD is going as Tinkerbell and middle DD is a Prom Queen. Can't beat free and the girls love that their aunts used to wear the stuff.

Yes, my daughter wore her ballerina costume to be a ballerina for Halloween. And I think my other daughter wore her Jazz dance outfit to be a rockstar.

It doesn't work here because of the weather. It's almost always cool enough to need a couple layers. However, they make great overpriced dress up clothes!

Yes! One year she had a cowgirl recital costume and another year we used her dance outfit to make her a rock star. When she was 4 she was a flower girl in a wedding, we used it for Halloween and made her an angel.

Yes. My DD wore her ballet costume 3 times in one year for Halloween. She got many compliments on how beautiful she looked. If you could have only seen the smile on her face!

Since we pay quite a bit for DD dance costumes, I always tell her she will be picking from her costumes on what she will be wearing for Halloween. We have even loaned out her costumes to her cousins. However, for the past 3 years, DD has preferred to wear her witch costume that I only paid maybe $10 way back when. I guess that in itself was a bargain.
