Have you gotten any pumpkins yet?

we have not yet. The kids have not even asked about it either but once everyone is feeling better and we are out and about next weekend I suspect we will pick some up.

Yes. We went to the pumpkin patch yesterday. The girls painted them and they are displayed on the counter.

We have a pumpkin carving party that we go to every year (really fun!) and you get a pumpkin to carve there in exchange for a covered dish or appetizer. So I don't buy them.

I used to make a really pretty fall display on our front porch, but our neighbor across the street has a dog that he REFUSES to neuter, that feels like he needs to repetitively mark everything that enters our yard. If you can imagine: cornstalks and pumpkins and a mini hay bale covered in urine like 2 feet away from our front door, not to mention when he misses and pees on our house or the puddle that it leaves on our wooden front porch. I can't even put out flower pots any time of year (like mums for fall or dahlias in spring/summer) because he pees on them as well (and to make it worse, the plants die). I hate that dog almost as much as I hate that neighbor.

(Sorry about the rant, it's a sore subject!)

This year DD insisted that I buy one pumpkin for each family member as soon as they appeared in the stores. Now I'm glad she did. #1 - The prices were lower ($2.88 per pumpkin, any size, at Wal-Mart). Now they are $4.88 each. #2 - It rained so the pumpkins that were outside in the big bins are going moldy.

We need to do a trip to the apple farm soon, too.

We got 2 big ones yesterday at the pumpkin patch. Next weekend we are going on a hayride and I know each of the kids will get another small one...it is included in the price of the ride.

Not yet. Last year they went rotten really quick and this year the pumpkin patch decided not to even open until Oct 14. So we'll be going next week.
