For her homework my 3rd grader had to measure the length of things around the house.

My kindergartener (who loves to copy her sister) found great joy in measuring things beside her with her own ruler. Give them a ruler and turn them loose.

dd had to do this in grade 3 as well and she thought it was funny.

dd (K) loves to measure things! that's what I'll get her to do this afternoon :-)

We've also had this assignment for my 8 year old. The funny thing was he went to measure our TV (smallish, non-plasma) and DH yelled out. "Just say it is 54 inches! Let them think we have a big TV "(he was joking of course- we laugh about our old TV all the time!). It was really funny!!

That's too funny!!! Fun really does come in small packages
